Hunzenschwil, June 25, 2026 – CARBOGEN AMCIS, a Switzerland-based phar-maceutical process development and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing company, has successfully commissioned a new ground-mounted photovoltaic system at its Hunzenschwil site in Switzerland. With this project, the company underscores its long-term commitment to sustaina-bility and the expansion of renewable energy.

The new solar power plant, with a capacity of 1,200 kWp, comprises a total of 2,448 photovoltaic modules installed on an area of approximately 6,200 m² on the compa-ny’s premises. This makes the plant one of the most efficient conventional ground-mounted systems in the Swiss Mittelland and brings its efficiency close to that of ver-tical alpine installations. Ground-mounted photovoltaic systems remain rare in Swit-zerland.

CARBOGEN AMCIS is one of the few companies to have built such a system on its own industrial site. In the future, the solar power generated will be used primarily for on-site consumption and will help to sustainably reduce the company’s CO₂ emissions.
The project was carried out in collaboration with our energy and infrastructure part-ners IWB (Industrielle Werke Basel) and its subsidiary Planeco, which were responsi-ble for the planning and implementation of the facility.

The official opening ceremony took place on June 25, 2026, following a three-month construction phase, in the presence of Government Councilor Dieter Egli, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs and Internal Affairs of the Canton of Aargau; Urs Wiederkehr, mayor of the municipality of Hunzenschwil; Florian Gautschi from the cantonal economic development agency, as well as representatives from IWB, Planeco, and the management team of CARBOGEN AMCIS.

The new facility is another building block in CARBOGEN AMCIS’s sustainability strategy. The company aims to continuously improve its energy efficiency and steadily in-crease the share of renewable energy in its production processes.

CARBOGEN AMCIS nimmt Photovoltaik-Freiflächenanlage am Standort Hunzenschwil in Betrieb

Hunzenschwil, 25. Juni 2026 – CARBOGEN AMCIS, ein Dienstleistungsunter-nehmen im Bereich der Forschung und Entwicklung von Prozessen zur Her-stellung von aktiven pharmazeutischen Wirkstoffen mit Hauptsitz in der Schweiz, hat an seinem Standort in Hunzenschwil AG erfolgreich eine neue Photovoltaik-Freiflächenanlage in Betrieb genommen. Mit dem Projekt unter-streicht das Unternehmen sein langfristiges Engagement für Nachhaltigkeit und den Ausbau erneuerbarer Energien.

Die neue Solaranlage mit einer Leistung von 1’200 kWp umfasst insgesamt 2’448 Photovoltaik-Module, die auf einer rund 6’200 m² grossen Fläche auf dem Betriebsge-lände installiert wurden. Somit zählt die Anlage zu den effizienten der klassischen Freiflächenanlagen im Schweizer Mittelland und erreicht nahezu die Effizienz vertikaler alpiner Anlagen. Photovoltaik-Freiflächenanlagen sind in der Schweiz nach wie vor selten.
CARBOGEN AMCIS gehört zu den wenigen Unternehmen, die eine solche Anlage auf dem eigenen Industrieareal realisiert haben. Der erzeugte Solarstrom wird künftig überwiegend für den Eigenverbrauch am Standort genutzt und trägt dazu bei, den CO₂-Ausstoss des Unternehmens nachhaltig zu reduzieren.
Realisiert wurde das Projekt gemeinsam mit den Energie- und Infrastrukturpartnern IWB (Industrielle Werke Basel) sowie deren Tochtergesellschaft Planeco, die für die Planung und Umsetzung der Anlage verantwortlich zeichneten.

Die feierliche Inbetriebnahme fand nach dreimonatiger Bauphase am 25. Juni 2026 statt im Beisein von Regierungsrat Dieter Egli, Vorsteher des Departements Volkswirt-schaft und Inneres des Kantons Aargau, Urs Wiederkehr, Gemeindeammann der Ge-meinde Hunzenschwil, Florian Gautschi von der kantonalen Standortförderung sowie Vertreterinnen und Vertretern der IWB, Planeco und der Geschäftsleitung von CARBO-GEN AMCIS.

Die neue Anlage ist ein weiterer Baustein der Nachhaltigkeitsstrategie von CARBOGEN AMCIS. Das Unternehmen verfolgt das Ziel, seine Energieeffizienz kontinuierlich zu steigern und den Anteil erneuerbarer Energien in seinen Produktionsprozessen laufend auszubauen.
